How to Get from Koh Samet to Pattaya

The shortest hop off Koh Samet. Once you are back at Ban Phe pier, Pattaya is an easy ninety minutes up the coast, which makes this a practical afternoon move rather than a whole travel day.

How the journey works, leg by leg

Leg 1 — Songthaew to Na Dan pier

Around ฿20–100 from your beach, depending on distance. Allow more time than the map suggests.

Leg 2 — Ferry to Ban Phe

Roughly 40 minutes and about ฿70 on the scheduled ferry, or 15–20 minutes by speedboat at a higher price. Crossings are frequent in the morning and thin out later.

Leg 3 — Road to Pattaya

Your driver meets you at Ban Phe pier and takes you to any Pattaya, Jomtien or Naklua address in about ninety minutes, tolls included.

Practical tips

  • Give us your ferry time rather than a clock time — the driver will wait at the pier rather than have you standing around.
  • Morning crossings are more frequent and less weather-dependent than late afternoon ones.
  • If you are continuing to Suvarnabhumi or U-Tapao rather than staying in Pattaya, book that leg directly instead of stopping — both are standard fixed fares from Ban Phe.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Koh Samet to Pattaya take?

Around two and a half hours all in: the songthaew and 40-minute ferry take about an hour together, and the drive from Ban Phe pier to Pattaya is roughly ninety minutes.

Where does my driver meet me?

At Ban Phe pier, where the ferry from Koh Samet arrives. Tell us your intended crossing when you book so the driver can allow for a late boat.

Do I need to book the ferry in advance?

No. Ferries to Koh Samet run frequently through the day and tickets are sold at Ban Phe pier when you arrive. Speedboats also operate on demand. Advance booking is only worth it for a private speedboat charter.

How much is the Koh Samet national park fee?

Roughly ฿200 per adult and ฿100 per child for foreign visitors, collected in cash on the island. It is a National Park charge, not something we or the ferry operators collect, and it is not included in any taxi or ferry ticket.
