How to Get from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Hua Hin
Hua Hin sits about 200 km southwest of the airport, down the western side of the Gulf. The drive skirts the bottom of Bangkok and picks up the Rama II road south, which is the one part of this journey worth knowing about in advance.

The Rama II road
Rama II is the main road south out of Bangkok and it has been under near-continuous construction for years. Most of the time it is fine and the drive runs to schedule. Occasionally, particularly at weekends and around public holidays, it backs up badly and adds an hour or more.
There is no alternative route that avoids it, so this affects the coach and the minivan exactly as much as it affects a car. It is simply worth knowing when you plan the day: if you have something fixed at the Hua Hin end, do not schedule it for the minute you expect to arrive.
The train is the one option immune to it, which is a genuine point in its favour for anyone with a flexible schedule and a tolerance for Thai railway timekeeping.
Practical tips
- The Roong Reuang counter is in the arrivals area at Suvarnabhumi and is a solid option for solo travellers — it is a proper direct coach, not a connection.
- Hua Hin railway station is one of the prettiest in Thailand and worth seeing even if you do not arrive by train.
- Give us your flight number; airport pickups include 60 minutes of free waiting after landing.
- Weekends see heavy Bangkok traffic heading to Hua Hin — leaving early on a Saturday morning is worth doing.
